Undergraduate Admission at Georgia Tech will extend the Early Action 1 deadline to October 31 for Georgia students in counties impacted by Hurricane Helene.

“We know Hurricane Helene has presented an extraordinarily difficult time for students, high school counselors, and communities in our state and beyond,” said Mary Tipton Woolley, interim executive director of the Office of Undergraduate Admission. “We want to support these impacted groups in any way we can.”

Georgia counties included in this extension are: Appling, Atkinson, Bacon, Baldwin, Ben Hill, Berrien, Bleckley, Brantley, Brooks, Bryan, Bulloch, Burke, Butts, Camden, Candler, Charlton, Chatham, Clinch, Coffee, Colquitt, Columbia, Cook, Echols, Effingham, Elbert, Emanuel, Evans, Glascock, Glynn, Hancock,  Irwin, Jeff Davis, Jefferson, Jenkins, Johnson, Lanier, Laurens, Liberty, Lincoln, Long, Lowndes, Madison, McDuffie, McIntosh, Montgomery, Newton, Pierce, Putnam, Rabun, Richmond, Screven, Taliaferro, Tattnall, Telfair, Tift, Toombs, Treutlen, Turner, Ware, Warren, Washington, Wayne, Wheeler, Wilkes, Wilkinson, and Worth.

This deadline extension is designed to provide students and their schools with additional time to gather all necessary documentation and submit their applications.

All documents and application materials should be submitted by 11:59 p.m. on October 31. The deadline to submit standardized test scores remains November 18. Early Action 1 students outside of the above counties should plan to submit their applications on or before October 15.

The deadline for Early Action 2, the early application group for non-Georgia students, remains November 1. However, Undergraduate Admission will soon have additional information for students who have been impacted by Hurricane Helene in Florida, North Carolina, and Tennessee.

No changes have been made for Regular Decision, and all applicants applying in this round should do so no later than January 6, 2025. Admission’s Regular Decision application review is the same as that for Early Action.

“For those who might need additional time beyond the extension, please consider applying Regular Decision,” said Woolley. “We do not look at those applications any differently, it’s purely about what timeline works best for you.”
