Financial aid applications for the 2026-27 academic year are now open. The Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid encourages all Georgia Tech students (including those applying for first-year admission) to fill out their financial aid forms early to maximize their opportunities for aid.
“Financial aid applications are the gateway to grants, scholarships, and other funding sources, so it is critical that students who want to be considered for these opportunities fill out the necessary forms,” said Katie Conrad, executive director of Financial Aid. “All students should start with the Georgia Tech Application for Scholarships and Financial Aid (GT App), which takes only a couple of minutes to complete, and then complete the other forms.”
After completing the GT App, students should complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Regardless of perceived eligibility, Financial Aid recommends it for all students, especially prospective first-year students.
Prospective first-year students and Fall 2026 transfer students who wish to be considered for need-based aid must also submit the CSS Profile. This form gives Financial Aid additional information about a student’s financial background.
Georgia residents may have one additional step to complete — the Georgia Student Finance Application (GSFAPP) — which takes 3 to 5 minutes to complete and is used to determine HOPE/Zell Miller scholarship eligibility. This Georgia-specific form only needs to be completed once, as it is valid for 10 years. Georgia residents who only want to be considered for HOPE/Zell Miller only need to complete the GSFAPP and the GT App, and do not need to complete the FAFSA.
To maintain eligibility for financial aid, the GT App and FAFSA must be completed on an annual basis by the deadline. The deadline to apply for Georgia Tech financial aid for the 2026-27 academic year is January 31, 2026.
“Our office is happy to assist with questions,” said Conrad. “By starting early, students set themselves up for success by giving us the time needed to answer their questions and resolve any issues they may encounter.”
