Mary Tipton Woolley has been named the new executive director of Georgia Tech’s Office of Undergraduate Admission. Woolley will assume the role immediately.
“Mary Tipton brings over 25 years of undergraduate admission experience to the role, 16 of which have been served at Tech. I am excited to see her continued growth as she steps into this position,” said Reta Pikowsky, interim vice provost of Enrollment Management. “Under her guidance, Undergraduate Admission will continue to lead the way in stewarding the next generation of stellar Tech students.”
Woolley joined Tech in 2009 as associate director of Undergraduate Admission, rising to senior associate director in 2015. She has served as the interim executive director since the beginning of 2024.
During her time at Tech, Undergraduate Admission has seen a 345% increase in applications from 13,500 to over 60,000. Amid this growth, Woolley has played an instrumental role in advancing the Undergraduate Admission office to meet enrollment and recruitment goals.
Prior to Tech, Woolley worked at Emory University for nearly 10 years, where she progressed from an admission advisor to serve as an assistant director and then associate director for enrollment services. In 2007, she was named the director of enrollment services for Emory’s Oxford College.
Woolley holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Mississippi State University and a Master of Science in Urban Policy Studies from Georgia State University.
She has been a member of the National Association for College Admission Counseling since 2000. She is also a member of the Southern Association of College Admission Counseling and multiple other professional organizations.
